IBSA for women’s well-being: new perspectives in the treatment of cystitis and vulvovaginal atrophy

Women’s intimate health is an essential aspect of overall well-being, yet many related conditions are still underestimated or rarely discussed. Among these are cystitis and vulvovaginal atrophy – common disorders that significantly impact the quality of life of the women affected.

IBSA stands alongside women with innovative solutions, developed to meet their real needs, with the aim of meaningfully improving their quality of life.

CYSTITIS: BLADDER WALL PROTECTION AS A DEFENSE

Cystitis affects millions of women worldwide, with significant repercussions on everyday activities. The recurrence of symptoms such as burning, pain and urinary urgency impairs overall well-being, negatively impacting social and working life, also with potential psychological consequences.

Glycosaminoglycans (GAGs) are polysaccharides that form the protective layer of the bladder’s internal surface and play a key role in maintaining integrity and impermeability. If the urothelial layer becomes damaged or thinned, the bladder becomes more vulnerable to infection and inflammation, increasing the risk of recurring episodes of cystitis.

IBSA is committed to raising awareness about prevention, as well as to developing hyaluronic acid-based products which help prevent damage to the urothelium and to restore its integrity.

IBSA’S NEW APPROACH TO VULVOVAGINAL ATROPHY

IBSA recently took part in the 16th Congress of the European Society of Gynaecology (ESG), held in Riga (Latvia) from 19 to 21 March. During this important scientific event, IBSA presented its new approach to the treatment of vulvovaginal atrophy, a still largely underestimated condition which is often – but not exclusively – associated with menopause.

This condition is characterised by symptoms such as pain, dyspareunia, burning, itching and vaginal dryness, due to physical changes in the vulva, vagina and lower urinary tract. The loss of tissue hydration and elasticity can affect quality of life, particularly in the intimate sphere. IBSA has developed a solution based on NAHYCO technology, offering an innovative approach to women’s intimate well-being.
